
Softball Takes Two, Improves to 6-8

CLEARWATER, Fla. - Chelsea DeLamielleure homered to lead a nine-hit Central Michigan attack Saturday as the Chippewa softball team defeated East Carolina, 6-0, in the Under Armour Invitational.
The Chippewas (6-8) defeated Cornell, 8-6, in their first game on Saturday. CMU plays host South Florida on Sunday (4 p.m.).
Rachael Knapp (4-3) threw a three-hitter, struck out nine and walked one for the victory against East Carolina (13-8).
CMU leadoff hitter Lacy Tolfree had three hits, DeLamielleure finished with two, and Katelyn Rentschler and Gina Munson both doubled. CarolAnn Sexauer and Allison Curtis each added a single. Rentschler and DeLamielleure had two RBI apiece.
Losing pitcher Mary Williams (2-3) went 4 1/3 innings, allowing six runs on seven hits.
Rentschler homered in the victory over Cornell (0-4).
