Preston Leadership Award Announced

MOUNT PLEASANT, Mich. – The creation of the Dustin Preston Leadership Award was announced at the CMU Athletics Academic Excellence Banquet.
The award recognizes the individual who best represents a championship student-athlete including athletic and academic success and leadership on and off the field.
Preston, who passed away last year, was a proud member for the CMU football family, playing from 1991-94 on the defensive line. He was a four-year letterwinner, leading CMU to the 1994 MAC Championship and a berth into the Las Vegas Bowl that same season. He served as president of the CMU football alumni association and actively supported the program in numerous ways over the past 20 years.
Preston founded Capital Steel and Wire in 2001 with his wife Kelly, and grew the company into a successful steel distributorship achieving national recognition with the Entrepreneur Magazine Hot 500 Fastest Growing Companies in America.
This award was created in conjunction with the Preston family and CMU Athletics corporate partners at PNC Bank. It will be awarded annually with the first recipient being named at the 2017 creation of the Dustin Preston Leadership Award was announced at the CMU Athletics Academic.
