Bronco Buster: Chippewas Rally To Stun Western

KALAMAZOO, Mich. - Central Michigan kept swinging.
Eventually, some blows found their mark. And then the big blow did.
Trailing from almost the get-go, the Chippewas rallied from a 28-14 deficit, scoring three fourth-quarter touchdown to shock archrival Western Michigan, 35-28, on a rainy Wednesday night at the Broncos' Waldo Stadium.
Shane Morris connected with Corey Willis on a 77-yard touchdown pass play with 2:37 remaining to break a 28-28 tie as the Chippewas snapped a three-game losing streak in the series.
It was the first victory over the Broncos for third-year CMU coach John Bonamego.
CMU improved to 5-4, 3-2 Mid-American Conference. The Chippewas need one more win to become bowl eligible. The Broncos are 5-4, 3-2.
Willis finished a career-high 148 yards on five receptions. Morris completed 12 of 30 pass attempts for 243 yards and two scores.
Sophomore running back Jonathan Ward finished with 213 all-purpose yards - 132 on the ground, 81 through the air, and one touchdown.
