MOUNT PLEASANT, Mich. - Four members of the Mid-America Conference regular-season champion Central Michigan women's basketball team have received all-league honors.
Tinara Moore and Presley Hudson were named to the All-MAC First Team, and Reyna Frost and Jewel Cotton were named to the third team. It marks the first time CMU has had two first-teamers since 1991.
Moore, a 6-foot-3 junior from Southgate who led the MAC in blocks with a program-record 64, was named the Defensive Player of the Year and earned a spot on the MAC All-Defensive Team.
"I think Tinara has really bought into the discipline defensively," CMU coach Sue Guevara said. "I think she is mobile enough and her numbers and performance speak for themselves. She warranted every accolade that she got and I'm really happy for her."
Moore, who set a CMU record with nine blocks in a game this season against Northern Illinois, ranks ninth in the league in scoring at 16.3 points per game and 11th in rebounds (7.2). She finished third in league player of the year balloting.
Moore is the second in program history to earn the league's top defender after Crystal Bradford in 2014.
Hudson, a sophomore guard from Wayland who last year earned the league's Freshman of the Year Award, leads the Chippewas in scoring (17.3) and assists (5.0). She ranks fifth in the conference in both categories.
Frost, a 6-foot sophomore from Reese, leads the MAC and ranks sixth in the nation in rebounds per game (11.1). She is 10th nationally in offensive rebounds per game (4.0). She also averages 9.2 points. She, like Hudson, was a member of the MAC All-Freshman Team last season.
Cotton, a 6-2 senior from Harper Woods, averages 11 points and 6.8 rebounds per game. Her .587 field goal percentage ranks second in the league. Cotton earned the league's Sixth Person of the Year Award last season.
The Chippewas, who won their first MAC regular-season championship since 1985, are the top seed in the MAC Tournament at Quicken Loans Arena in Cleveland. They open the tourney against eighth-seeded Western Michigan on Wednesday (noon).
