PORT CHARLOTTE, Fla. - Nick Stokowski had three hits, including a double and a two-run homer, and Central Michigan scored two unearned runs in the fourth inning to take the lead for good Wednesday en route to a 9-7 victory over Georgetown at North Charlotte Regional Park.
It was the second straight win for the Chippewas (5-7), who wrap up their Spring Break trip with a three-game series with Central Florida in Orlando beginning on Friday.
Stokowski led an 11-hit CMU attack, only one of which, an Alex Borglin single, came during a two-run fourth inning when the Chippweas scored twice to break a 6-6 tie.
Zach Heeke reached on an error to start the CMU fourth, Borglin singled and Zach Gilles walked to load the bases. Heeke scored on a wild pitch, and Borglin scored on a throwing error to put the Chippewas up 8-6.
Jake Raether, a freshman left-hander, picked up the victory, his first, in relief of starter Zach Kohn. Raether (1-0) allowed just one hit, walked three and struck out two over 2 2/3 innings.
Kohn went 2 1/3 innings, allowing six runs on five hits, walked four and struck out three. Jordan Grosjean worked 2 2/3 innings in relief of Raether. Grosjean surrendered one run on three hits, walked one and struck out two.
Michael Brettell worked the final 1 1/3 innings for the save, his first of the season and second of his career.
Borglin and Daniel Robinson finished with two hits apiece for CMU, while Robinson led the Chippewas with three RBI.
