MOUNT PLEASANT, Mich. - The Central Michigan field hockey team dropped a 2-0 nonconference decision to Yale on Friday at the CMU Field Hockey Complex.
The Chippewas (0-7) will hit the road next weekend to take on Longwood (5-1) in their Mid-American Conference opener on Saturday (1 p.m.) and VCU on Sunday (1 p.m.)
Camille Scheyer and Bridget Condie scored the goals, both in the first half, on Friday to lead the Bulldogs (3-1).
CMU put the pressure on in the second half, but could not slice into the deficit.
"We played hard," CMU coach Molly Pelowski said. "Our execution wasn't our best. We had some wonderful attacking opportunities and took a lot of shots on the frame. We need to execute our quarters better, but I'm pleased with the progress."
Goalkeeper Lily Amadio went the distance in goal for CMU, recording 13 saves.
"She saved the ball," Pelowski said of the junior. "It didn't matter what she needed to do, she did it. She made a lot of good saves."
Carly Brengosz had a team-high six shots for CMU, while Callie Quinn added four.
Yale finished with a 27-17 advantage in shots.
