
Chippewas Fall At Michigan

ANN ARBOR, Mich. - Michigan scored three runs in the bottom of the seventh inning to break a 3-3 tie on Wednesday and went on to post an 8-5 victory over Central Michigan in a nonconference baseball game at Ray Fisher Stadium.
The Chippewas, who slipped 7-17-1, go to Ball State for a Mid-American Conference series beginning on Friday (3 p.m.). CMU and Ball State are both 2-1 in league play.
ON THE MOUND
Dazon Cole (0-5) started for CMU and went 6 1/3 innings in taking the loss. He allowed five run on seven hits, walked five and struck out two.
Logan Buczkowski, Cameron Brown, Brandon Reed and Tyler Brown pitched in relief for the Chippewas.
Jeff Criswell (2-1), the fourth Michigan pitcher, picked up the victory, Michigan's ninth straight. The Wolverines are 13-11.
AT THE PLATE
Michigan out-hit the Chippewas, 12-6. Zach Heeke singled and doubled and Dazon Cole doubled for CMU. Jacob Crum, Jordan Patty, David Cole and Daniel Robinson each drove in a run for the Chippewas.
Jesse Franklin had three hits including a home run for Michigan.
HOW IT HAPPENED
CMU tied the game 3-3 with two runs in the top of the seventh, and then Michigan used a three singles, a stolen base, a wild pitch, two walks and a fielder's choice to push across three runs in the bottom half of the inning to go ahead for good. CMU used four pitchers in the inning.
The Chippewas got a run in the second on an RBI sacrifice bunt by Patty, and got two in the seventh, the first when Crum drew a bases-loaded walk, and the second when Dazon Cole scored on a passed ball.
The Chippewas got two more runs in the ninth when David Cole laid down an RBI bunt single and Crum scored on an error.
