Ashlee Villarreal joins coach Sue Guevara's staff
Central Michigan women's basketball coach Sue Guevara has named Ashlee Villarreal as the program's director of basketball operations.
Villarreal will oversee CMU's travel arrangements and equipment along with the team's film exchange, budget, managers, and assists with the facilitation of camps and aids the remainder of the coaching staff in the day-to-day operations of the program.
Villarreal played at Western Texas College in 2014-15 and earned her bachelor's degree, graduating magna cum laude, with a major in sport management from Texas Tech in 2017. She is working toward her master's in sport management.
She served as a graduate assistant at Texas Tech during the 2017-18 season.
"She came very highly recommended to us," CMU coach Sue Guevara said. "She is on top of it, she looks ahead, she's very organized, she's very detailed. She's a rising star and we're just very fortunate to have her here with us."
The Chippewas, who are coming off the best season in program history (a record 30 wins, Mid-American Conference regular season and tournament championships, a trip to the Sweet Sixteen of the NCAA Tournament), open the season on Nov. 8 at home against Oakland.
