MOUNT PLEASANT, Mich. -- Central Michigan and Buffalo played to a 0-0 tie on Thursday in a Mid-American Conference soccer game at the CMU Soccer/Lacrosse Complex.
Â
It was the second-consecutive tie for the Chippewas, who are 7-3-4, 4-3-2 MAC. They have 14 points in the league standings. Buffalo is 8-6-2, 5-3-1.
Â
With Ohio and Western Michigan winning their games on Thursday, CMU drops to sixth in the MAC standings. Ohio, Western and Buffalo are tied for third with 16 points.
Â
How It Happened
CMU senior Marle Bringard had an opportunity to score with just seven seconds remaining in the first overtime period. Her header was just wide of the net and the game went to a second OT, where each team managed a shot but could not get the elusive goal.
Â
"It was another slow start for us," CMU coach Jeremy Groves said. "We didn't start the game how we wanted to. I thought we grew into the game as it went along.
Â
"In the end, I think we had the better of the chances to win the game. It was a little disappointing that we didn't win the game. But they're a good team. We did OK in some parts of the game. We just have to fix some things, and look forward to Sunday's game."
Â
CMU had 19 shots compared to Buffalo's nine. Lauren DeBeau lead CMU in shots with eight, while Bringard had five.
Â
Buffalo had six corner kicks to CMU's four.
