Chippewas continue play in 54-hole tournament on Monday
STOCKBRIDGE, Ga. – Jami Laude shot 83 on Sunday to lead the Central Michigan golf team during the first round of the John Kirk Panther Intercollegiate at Eagle's Landing Country Club.
The Chippewas shot a 341 team total and are in 16th place in the event. The second round of the 54-hole tournament is scheduled for Monday, and the third and final round is set for Tuesday.
"We really struggle with target golf, and it's something we have to work through," CMU coach Jim Earle said. "I'm really proud of their efforts."
Three Chippewas – Meghan Deardorff, Bria Colosky and Danielle Sawyer – each shot 86, and Holly Hines posted an 88.
Murray State shot a 291 team score for a 10-shot lead over second-place Florida Gulf Coast.
Murray State's Linette Holmslykke shot a 4-under 68 for a two-shot lead over Albany's Caroline Juillat, who is alone in second place after a 2-under 70.
