Golfers Make 18-Shot Improvement

Chippewas close Panther Intercolleigate on Tuesday
MACON, Ga. – A significant improvement for the Central Michigan golf team.
Danielle Sawyer, Holly Hines and Jami Laude each shot 79 on Monday to lead the Central Michigan golf team to a 323 team total during the second round of the John Kirk Panther Intercollegiate, hosted by Georgia State, at Eagle's Landing Country Club.
The Chippewas improved their team score by 18 shots over Sunday's first round. The third and final round of the 54-hole event is scheduled for Tuesday.
The second-round scores for Laude, Sawyer and Hines, respectively, were all significantly improved over those the trio posted in Sunday's first round, when Laude shot 83, Sawyer shot 86, and Hines carded an 88.
CMU's Bria Colosky posted her second-consecutive 86 on Monday, while Meghan Deardorff shot 91.
Laude has a 162 total, while Sawyer is at 165, and Hines is at 167.
The Chippewas are in 16th place in the 16-team field with a 36-hole 664 total.
South Florida posted a 293 team score on Monday for a 596 total and is tied for the top spot with Murray State, which shot 305 on Monday. Oral Roberts (603) is third.
Paula Vega of Jacksonville State shot an even-par 72 and leads the tournament with a 1-over total. She is one shot ahead of South Florida's Natalia Villavicencio and Murray State's Linette Holmslykke.
