Duo receive the MAC Medal of Excellence award.
CLEVELAND, Ohio - Central Michigan's Reyna Frost and Logan Targgart were honored with the Mid-American Conference Medal of Excellence Award during the Honors Dinner Ceremony on Wednesday at the Renaissance Cleveland Hotel as part of the MAC Spring Meetings.
Frost, an All-American basketball player, and Targgart, a standout thrower on the track & field team, are two of 24 student-athletes -- two from each member institution -- to be so honored by the league.
Frost, a recent graduate, helped lead the Chippewa women's basketball team to three consecutive Mid-American Conference regular-season titles and in the process became the all-time career leading rebounder in the MAC.
Â
She was named the MAC Player of the Year in 2018-19 and was a finalist for the Katrina McClain Award, which goes to the nation's top power forward.
Â
Frost, who hails from Reese, ranked fourth in the nation in both rebounds per game and in double-doubles, and was the nation's 10th-leading scorer last season when she scored a program record 733 points. She is a three-time Academic All-MAC selection who earned her bachelor's degree in mathematics, graduating with a grade point average of 3.68.
Targgart, a junior from Coldwater, has been a pillar of the Chippewa men's track & field program since his arrival on campus. Three weeks ago, he successfully defended his hammer throw title at the MAC Outdoor Track & Field Championships and he has qualified for the NCAA East Preliminary for three consecutive years.
Â
He is a personal finance major who carries a 3.78 grade point average. He is a two-time Academic All-MAC selection and was named a MAC Distinguished Scholar Athlete in 2018.
Â
The Medal of Excellence Award goes to student-athletes exemplify athletic and academic distinction along with leadership and service.
