Nine Chippewas Named A Distinguished Scholar Athlete

Three CMU senior student-athletes honored for third consecutive season
MOUNT PLEASANT, Mich. – Nine Central Michigan student-athletes are among the 109 named by the Mid-American Conference as a Distinguished Scholar Athlete for the winter season.
The nine Chippewas represent gymnastics, indoor women's track & field, women's basketball and wrestling.
The Distinguished Scholar Athlete is an award that goes to students who have excelled both athletically and academically. The honorees are selected from those who were named to the Academic All-MAC teams from each sport.
Three Chippewas, Reyna Frost and Presley Hudson of the women's basketball team and Samantha Cuneo of the women's indoor track & field team, were honored for the third consecutive season.
Cuneo, a senior from Belmont, carries a 3.72 grade point average and is majoring in integrative public relations; Frost, a senior from Reese with a 3.68 GPA, is a mathematics major; Hudson, a senior from Wayland, is a physical activity specialist major who holds a 3.72 GPA.
Two Chippewa gymnasts, Gianna Plaksa and Denelle Pedrick, were named a Distinguished Scholar Athlete for the second-consecutive year. Plaksa is a senior from Mountain Top, Pa., who carries a 3.92 GPA while majoring in biology/biomedical sciences; Pedrick, a junior from Wilcox, Saskatchewan, is an exercise sciences/clinical exercise science major with a 3.72 GPA.
Other Chippewas named a Distinguished Scholar Athlete: Women's indoor track & field, Calli Stemple, senior, Waterford, Mich., exercise science major, 3.38 GPA; wrestling, Drew Hildebrandt, sophomore, Granger, Ind., finance, 3.64; Collin Lieber, redshirt freshman, Lexington, Mich., mechanical engineering, 3.81; Drew Marten, redshirt freshman, Tecumseh, Mich., biochemistry, 3.81.
