Pelham Earns Weekly MAC Honor

MOUNT PLEASANT, Mich. -- Central Michigan's Landon Pelham has been named the Mid-American Conference West Division Wrestler of the Week for his performance in the Chippewas' two dual meets last weekend.

Pelham, a junior who wrestles at 197 pounds, pinned Virginia Tech's Stanley Smeltzer in 3:21 on Friday at McGuirk Arena and then posted a 5-3 victory over Gage Braun of Northern Illinois in a MAC dual on Sunday in DeKalb, Ill.

Pelham, who hails from Tecumseh, is 13-8 on the season with four pins.

The Chippewas entertain No. 19 Missouri and SIUE in MAC duals on Jan. 17 and Jan. 19, respectively.
