Volleyball Looks To Bounce Back At Toledo

MOUNT PLEASANT, Mich. – The Central Michigan volleyball team returns to the court this weekend when it plays a two-match Mid-American Conference series at Toledo in the Rockets' Savage Arena.
The Chippewas (7-7) and Rockets (3-8) open the series on Friday (7 p.m.) and conclude on Saturday (3 p.m.).
CMU is coming off a pair of home losses to MAC-leading and unbeaten Bowling Green. The Chippewas had won four-consecutive matches heading into their series with the Falcons, who are ranked in the top 30 nationally.
Numbers
The Chippewas rank sixth in the MAC in kills per set (13.07) and lead the league in total kills (719). CMU has played a league-high 55 sets and is fourth in the conference in blocks per set (2.11).
Chippewa middle hitter Lisbeth Rosario-Martinez is the MAC's most efficient hitter at .380. She ranks fourth in the league with 19 aces. CMU outside hitter Savannah Thompson is sixth in the MAC with 3.64 kills per set and is seventh in points per set, 4.12.
Scouting
Toledo dropped a MAC match at Miami (Ohio) on Tuesday and last weekend split two matches at Eastern Michigan.
Toledo leads the MAC in blocks per set (2.65) and is 11th (11.61) in kills per set. Sophomore Olivia Vance leads the conference with 1.31 blocks per set.
Freshman outside hitter Taylor Alt ranks fifth in the MAC in kills per set (3.74) and two Rockets are among the league's top 10 in aces: Rhyen Neal (15) is seventh and Abby Ray (8) is 10th.

The Chippewas will depart from the MAC's back-to-back format when they entertain Eastern Michigan in a match on Tuesday, March 16 (6 p.m.) at McGuirk Arena. CMU is scheduled to go to Ball State for two matches on Friday and Saturday, March 19-20.
