MOUNT PLEASANT, Mich. – The Central Michigan golf team heads to Kentucky to compete in two events over the next four days beginning with the Battle at Boone Match Play on Saturday in Florence.
The Chippewas are scheduled to play in the Cleveland State Nevel Meade Collegiate on Monday and Tuesday in Prospect.
CMU won the North Carolina A&T Aggie Spring Invitational, a match-play event, three weeks ago. The Chippewas defeated the host Aggies along with High Point and Appalachian State in winning the event. It marked the second time that CMU has won an event since the program was resurrected in 2014-15.
The Battle at Boone is scheduled to be played at Boone Links Golf Course and is hosted by Northern Kentucky. The Chippewas join the host Norse, Bellarmine and Morehead State in the field.
On Saturday at 9 a.m., CMU will square off with Bellarmine and Morehead State will take on NKU. The two winning teams will meet on Saturday afternoon while the two losing teams will play in the third-place match.
The Cleveland State Nevel Meade Collegiate is a more-traditional tournament comprising 54 holes over two day at Nevel Meade Golf Club in Prospect, located just outside Louisville.
The tournament begins each day with a 9 a.m. shotgun start. The teams are scheduled to play 36 holes on Monday, 18 on Tuesday.
The Chippewas, Bellarmine and Northern Kentucky will make the 1-hour, 15-minute drive from Florence to Prospect for the Meade Collegiate. Scheduled to join that trio and host Cleveland State are Taylor, Oakland, IUPUI, Eastern Kentucky, Youngstown State, Illinois-Chicago and Purdue Fort Wayne.
