Maddy Watters to Compete in State Farm 3-Point Championships

All-Star event held at Hinkle Fieldhouse to air live on ESPN 2 on April 1
INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. – Maddy Watters has been selected to the Rocket Mortgage Women's 3-Point Championship roster for the 32nd annual State Farm College Slam Dunk & 3-Point Championships at Hinkle Fieldhouse on the Butler University Campus in Indianapolis on Thursday, April 1. She is one of eight players selected for the event that will air live on ESPN 2 at 9 p.m. ET.
Watters, a senior guard from Rockford, Mich., made 65 3-pointers this season, which was good for the No.23 spot in the NCAA and ranked No.14 with a .439 percentage from behind the arc. She also averaged a career-best 9.5 points per game this season in helping lead the Chippewas to the Mid-American Conference Tournament championship and a berth in the NCAA Tournament.
In her four years at CMU, Watters has made 182 of her 459 triple tries (39.6 percent). She ranks eighth in total career 3-pointers and is second in 3-point percentage. Watters becomes the second Chippewa in three years to accept an invitation to the 3-Point Championship. Former teammate Presley Hudson won the event in 2019.
Intersport, producers of the event, invites 24 of the nation's elite men's and women's college basketball players to compete in the State Farm College Slam Dunk & 3-Point Championships (eight dunkers, along with eight men's and eight women's shooters). The program showcases the dunking and sharp-shooting talents of the nation's top college basketball players during the Men's 3-point Championship, the Rocket Mortgage Women's 3-Point Championship, the Battle of the Champions, the Great Clips Slam Dunk Championship and the IHOP Team Shootout.
A complete roster of participants will be released at a later date.
For more than 30 years, several of the top players in college basketball have competed in the College Slam Dunk & 3-Point Championships including: Gary Payton, Steve Nash, Jason Terry, Kyle Korver, Bobby Hurley, Michael Finley, Allan Houston, Wesley Matthews, Yogi Ferrell, Cappie Pondexter, Katie Gearlds, Kristi Toliver, Tiffany Hayes and Ariel Atkins.
