Softball Entertain Rival Western In Wednesday Twinbill

MOUNT PLEASANT, Mich. – The Central Michigan softball team is set to entertain rival Western Michigan on Wednesday (1 p.m.) in a Mid-American Conference doubleheader at Margo Jonker Stadium.
The Chippewas are 9-21, 7-13 MAC, and last weekend split a four-game league series at home with Buffalo. Western is 10-20, 6-10, and has not played since splitting a four-game series at Northern Illinois April 9-11.
After a 2-11 start in MAC play, the Chippewas have won five of their last seven league games.
Senior Shaidan Knapp leads the Chippewas in hitting at .366. Three other Chippewas are hitting better than .300: Morgan Gardner, .321; Abbey Tolmie, .319; and Kelsey Alexander, .307. Cleanup hitter Shannon Stein leads the Chippewas in both home runs (5) and RBI (22).
The Chippewas are scheduled to go to Kent State over this weekend for a four-game series.
