CMU MBB Falls to Toledo

MOUNT PLEASANT, Mich. – Toledo used an 11-point run midway through the second half on Tuesday in handing Central Michigan men's basketball an 82-54 Mid-American Conference loss in McGuirk Arena.
The Chippewas (2-11, 1-1 MAC) are set to take on Western Michigan on Saturday, Jan. 8, in McGuirk Arena at 7 p.m. The Broncos are currently 4-10 overall and 0-3 in the conference.
Toledo used a sizable edge at the free throw line in the victory, hitting 21-of-25 attempts compared to CMU's mark of 9-of-15. Both teams had seven threes and Toledo out shot CMU from the floor, .443-.333.
The first half was close most of the way before a late Toledo run gave the Rockets a 44-33 lead at the half. The Chippewas were able to get the deficit down to five, 48-43, before UT secured the win with a 34-11 run to close the game.
Without starters Oscar Lopez Jr. and Cameron Healy, guards Kevin Miller and forward Brian Taylor and Harrison Henderson stepped up to the task.
Miller, a true freshman, led the Chippewas with 14 points, including a pair of three, and had four assists. Henderson finished with 13 points, going 5-of-10 from the field, while Taylor led the squad in rebounds with 8.
