CMU Men Tee It Up In Texas

GLADEWATER, Texas – Arie Jackman shot a 1-over par 73 on Monday to lead the Central Michigan golf team at the Tempest Collegiate at Tempest Golf Club.
Jackman, a junior, opened the tournament with a 2-over 74 and stands at 3-over 147 and is tied for 28th in the 62-player field. Jackman is playing in the tournament as an individual and his score does not count toward the Chippewas' team total.
The third and final round of the tournament, the last of CMU's five-event fall season, is scheduled for Tuesday morning.
The Chippewas opened with a 311 team score and then finished at 307 in the second round. Their 618 total puts them in 11th place in the 11-team field, 17 shots behind 10th-place Houston Christian.
CMU's Philippe Yturralde is tied for 39th after shooting 74-78 – 152.
Also for the Chippewas, Ethan Jaehn shot 80-75 – 155; Jeffrey Andrus shot 81-74 – 155; Nicholas Kilgore shot 77-81 – 158; and Orlando Coons shot 80-80 – 160. Andrus and Jaehn are tied for 51st.
All six Chippewas playing in the tournament, with the exception of Jackman, are freshmen.
Rice leads the tournament at 561 (281-280). The Owls hold a six-shot lead over second-place South Alabama.
Rick Frauenberger of Stephen F. Austin leads the tournament at 6-under (68-70). He holds a one-shot lead over Rice's Henry Daley (71-68).
