Women's Golf Improves By 14 Shots In Second Round In Utah

SAINT GEORGE, Utah – The Central Michigan women's golf team shot a 309 team score on Friday to move into 10th place after two rounds of the 16-team Pizza Hut-Lady Thunderbird Invitational at Sunbrook Golf Club.
The final round of the 54-hole event is scheduled for 11 a.m. (ET) on Saturday.
Led by Padgett Chitty's 1-over par 73, the Chippewas improved by 14 strokes on their opening-round 323.
The Chippewas stand with a 36-hole 632 total and trail ninth-place Northern Colorado by four shots.
Chitty's 73 moved her up 23 spots on the leaderboard and into a CMU-best tie for 28th in the 105-player field. Chitty opened on Thursday with an 82 and now stands at 155.
Also for the Chippewas on Friday, Zoe Vartyan shot 78, Rachel Kauflin and Claudia Salvador both shot 79 and Casilda Allendesalazar shot 81.
The Chippewas' Ashley Goh, playing as an individual, shot 78 for a 156 total and is tied for 31st. CMU's Mackenzie Baustad and Ashley Liles, also playing as individuals, shot 83 and 85, respectively, on Friday.
Allendesalazar stands at 158 and is tied for 41st, while Kauflin (160) is tied for 49th. Salvador stands at 162, tied for 57th; and Vartyan is at 163, tied for 62nd.
Seattle shot 297 and remains in first place in the team standings with a 596 total, one shot better than Arkansas State (302-295).
Kiana Oshiro of Oral Roberts shot a 1-under 71 to take over first place with a 144 total. She leads Weber State's Jessica Zelasko by one shot.
