MILWAUKEE, Wis. -- The Central Michigan lacrosse team dropped a 19-13 nonconference decision to Marquette on Sunday at the Golden Eagles' Valley Field.

The Chippewas (5-6) trailed, 10-9, at halftime, and was outscored, 5-0, in the third quarter as the Golden Eagles (5-6) pulled out to a comfortable lead. The Chippewas got no closer than four goals the rest of the way.

Marquette outshot Central Michigan, 42-25, through four quarters.

Maggie Diebold led the Chippewas with four goals. Kendall Hoyt and Audrey Whiteside both scored two.

Erin Owens and Alexa Martel split time in goal for CMU; both playing 30 minutes. Martel made three saves and allowed 10 goals in taking the loss. Owens made 12 saves and surrendered nine goals.

Central Michigan travels to Youngstown State on Saturday, April 2 (1 p.m.) for a Mid-American Conference game. CMU will then return home to entertain Detroit Mercy for another league game at the CMU Soccer/Lacrosse complex Saturday, April 9 (1 p.m.).
