Track & Field Wins 3 Events Among 21 Top-10 Finishes At Michigan State

EAST LANSING, Mich. -- Tricia Pierce, Hayley Manners and Maddy Boyd posted victories in leading the Central Michigan track & field team on Friday and Saturday at the Michigan State Spartan Invitational.

No team scores were kept. CMU posted 21 top-10 finishes.

Manners, a redshirt sophomore, finished first in the triple jump at 11.58 meters; Pierce, another redshirt sophomore, claimed first place in the pole vault at 3.72 meters; and Boyd captured the 3,000-meter steeplechase in 11:23.14.

Peyton Korytkowski, a redshirt freshman, also had a big day with a second-place finish in the 100-meter hurdles (14.53 seconds). She also finished second in the 4x100-meter relay along with Taylor Korytkowski, Manners and Reghan Draper.

"Everyone did something great today," CMU coach Jenny Swieton said. "Every event area or group that we had accomplished something that was really important in moving forward."

• Three Chippewas placed in the long jump. Camiyah James finished third at 5.39 meters; Sarah Daniel finished fifth (5.37); and Jaci Rife was seventh (5.18). Rife also placed sixth in the 200-meter dash (27.06).

• Redshirt freshman Shelby Korytkowski finished fourth in the pole vault at 3.42 meters.

• Mohogany Wells, a redshirt sophomore, finished third in the hammer throw at 53.99 meters; she also placed sixth in the shot put at 13.58 meters.

• Aliyah Boeve in the discus finished eighth at 43.57 meters.

• In the 1,500-meter unseeded race, Megan Lasceski finished fourth at 5:22.85, while redshirt sophomore Natalie Newcombe was eighth at 4:43.97.

• In the 800, Madi Mandelke finished sixth at 2:18.78.

• Four Chippewas placed in the 400-meter hurdles: Emma Francis was second at 1:04.66; Nyah Tyron was third, 1:05.50; Annie Laurenz finished sixth, 1:06.98; Angela Kotecki placed seventh; 1:07.87.

• Olivia Hankey placed fourth in the 100 hurdles in 14.78.
