CMU Tied For 6th After Day 2 At MAC Track & Field Championships

KALAMAZOO, Mich. – Six Central Michigan Chippewas scored on Friday during day two of the Mid-American Conference Track & Field Championships at Western Michigan's Kanley Track.
The Chippewas are tied for sixth place in the 12-team field with 28 points. The championships are scheduled to conclude on Saturday.
Junior Olivia Hankey posted CMU's top finish on Friday, a second in the heptathlon. Hankey finished with 5138 points, 265 behind winner Karlie Zumbro of Ball State. The second-place finish netted the Chippewas eight team points.
Hankey won the 800-meter run in 2:12.46 and was third in the long jump at 5.48 meters (17 feet, 11 ¾ inches) and third in the javelin at 32.33 meters (106-1).
Also on Friday for CMU, Hayley Manners placed fourth and Sarah Daniel was eighth in the long jump, Anya Turner was fifth in the 3,000-meter steeplechase, and Tricia Pierce and Shelby Korytkowski finished sixth and seventh, respectively, in the pole vault.
Manners' best jump measured 5.93 meters (19-5 ½), while Daniel's best measured 5.83 meters (19-1 ½).
Turner posted a 10:53.91 clocking in the steeplechase, while Pierce and Korytkowski both cleared 3.44 meters (11-3 ½) in the pole vault.
Three other Chippewas advanced to Saturday's finals in two events. Jericha Petrella and Taylor Korytkowski finished fourth and eighth, respectively, in 400-meter dash prelims, while Reghan Draper placed seventh in the 100-meter dash prelims.
