The redshirt-junior from Negaunee, Mich. concluded the previous indoor season in the 8th all-time slot.
BOSTON, Mass. — As the 2023-24 Indoor Track and Field season comes into full swing, Emily Paupore is set on picking up right where she left off.
Central Michigan's Paupore concluded the 2022-23 indoor season with her name etched into the eighth slot of the CMU women's indoor top 10 5000m list at 16:57.28.
She moved into fourth place on Saturday at the Sharon Colyear-Danville Season Opener, where she ran a personal-best time of 16:41.91.
She placed 104th among runners from institutions such as Florida, Alabama, Notre Dame and North Carolina.
"It was a good trip," said Director of Cross Country/Track and Field Jenny Swieton. "Emily is coming home with a big indoor personal record and is ready for some big goals this season. It's always good to get in a good race before break!"
Paupore, who highlighted her 2023 cross country season with a Mid-American Conference title and the CMU women's cross country 5k record, is in the hunt for the all-time indoor 5000m record. The record was set by Megan O'Neil in 2019 with a time of 16:32.19.
The Chippewas are scheduled to compete in the GVSU Holiday Open on Friday, Dec. 8.
