Baseball Drops Series Opener to Bowling Green

The Chippewas and Falcons continue the series on Saturday (11 a.m.) and are set to conclude on Sunday (2 p.m.). CMU is 13-11, 4-3 MAC. Bowling Green is 10-13, 5-5.
CMU starter Adam Mrkatisch (3-2) allowed just one hit through four innings before the Falcons struck for two runs on two hits in both the fifth and sixth innings to seize a 4-1 lead.
The Falcons scored at least two runs in each of the next three innings to pull away against five CMU relievers.
The Chippewas committed four errors, tying their season high.
CMU collected seven hits, two by Justin Simpson, and stranded 10 base runners including two in scoring position in the sixth inning when they trailed, 4-2.
The Chippewas got a run in the fourth inning on a Robby Morgan IV RBI double, and later pushed across runs on sacrifice flies by Christian Mitchelle and Garrett Navarra.
