Chippewas Conclude Split Weekend at Louisville, Grand Valley; Paupore Renews Steeplechase Mark

CMU collects four top-five performances to finish Louisville’s Clark Wood Invitational; Paupore inches closer to all-time steeplechase mark at GVSU Extra-Weekend Meet
LOUISVILLE, Ky. – Central Michigan University Track & Field finished off its part in the Clark Wood Invitational at the University of Louisville Saturday afternoon, led by a pair of top-five relays and two more top-five marks in the field.
Members of the Chippewas' distance/mid-distance group took part in Saturday's Extra-Weekend Meet at NCAA II Grand Valley State University led by a third place run in the 3,000-meter steeplechase from Emily Paupore that featured a new personal-best of 10:25.73, inching closer to the CMU all-time record in the event.
The 1,600-meter relay unit of Emma Francis, Emma Fountain, Annie Laurenz and Jaci Rife set a new season-high for the Chippewas as the third-place finish in Louisville came in 3:55.37.
The 400-meter relay squad of Reghan Draper, Peyton Korytkowski, Hayley Manners and Sarah Daniel put up a fourth place run in 47.16 seconds.
Central Michigan found a pair of fifth-place finishes in the field Saturday as Angelina Horn bounded for 12.05 meters in the triple jump and Mohogany Wells continued her momentum from Friday's action for a 13.70-meter toss in shot put.
Paupore's third-place mark at Grand Valley was matched in each of the 400-meter events. Libby Munderloh collected a new personal-best of 1:06.46 in the 400 hurdles while Grace Jenkins posted a 1:01.27 in the unobstructed 400 meters.
Central Michigan Track & Field is slated to send representatives to the Len Paddock Invitational at the University of Michigan next Saturday (May 6), the final meet before the 2023 Mid-American Conference Outdoor Track & Field Championships, hosted by the University of Akron May 11-13.
