Allendesalazar, Vartyan Post Top-10 Finishes at Bowling Green

BOWLING GREEN, Ohio – Zoe Vartyan and Casilda Allendesalazar finished tied for 10th on Saturday to lead the Central Michigan women's golfers at the Bowling Green Dolores Black Invitational at Stone Ridge Golf Club.
Allendesalazar and Vartyan finished the 36-hole event at 8-over 152. Allendesalazar shot 76 in both rounds, while Vartyan opened with a 2-over 74 and closed with a 78.
Vartyan was playing as an individual and her score did not count toward the Chippewas' team total. Vartyan's first-round 74 was one stroke shy of her season best and her tie for 10th is her best finish of the 2022-23 season.
CMU shot 311 in the opening round and posted a 313 in the final round for a 624 team total and a sixth-place finish in the 10-team event. Toledo, 302-302 – 604, won the team title by 11 shots over Loyola Chicago.
CMU's Ashley Goh finished tied for 13th in the 72-player field, while Padgett Chitty tied for 20th, Claudia Salvador tied for 47th, and Rachel Kauflin tied for 52nd.
Goh finished with a 153 total, closing with team-best 75 after opening with a 78. Chitty shot 77-79 – 156, Salvador shot 80-83 – 163, and Kauflin shot 81-84 – 165.
Three other Chippewas played in the event as individuals. Mackenzie Baustad shot 82-76 – 158 to tie for 28th; Ashley Liles finished in a tie for 60th at 167 (85-82). Also for CMU, Madison Liles shot 101-93 – 194.
The Chippewas next head to the Mid-American Conference Championships April 21-23 at Kalamazoo Country Club in Kalamazoo.
Toledo's Amelia Lee and Loyola's Grace Suter both finished at 3-over 147 to share medalist honors. Kayla Davis of Bowling Green (148) was third.
