CLEVELAND — The Mid-American Conference (MAC) announced its 2024 Women's Basketball schedule Wednesday morning, with the first conference date for Central Michigan set for Jan. 3, 2024 to host league runner-up Bowling Green.
The Chippewas (6-23, 4-14 MAC in 2022-23) host their first two MAC contests between the Falcons and Buffalo (Jan. 6) ahead of a road swing at Akron (Jan. 10) and Eastern Michigan (Jan. 13). At no point in the schedule will CMU be on the road or at home for more than two consecutive contests.
Central Michigan will host the league's reigning champion, Toledo (Feb. 7), as one of four opponents to be featured just once on the regular season slate—Bowling Green (Jan. 3), at Eastern Michigan (Jan. 13), at Northern Illinois (Jan. 20).
The MAC announced its first pass of matchups in the MAC-Sun Belt (SBC) Challenge in June with the Chippewas tabbed for a road matchup at South Alabama on Nov. 9, 2023, with a return trip to McGuirk Arena from a member of the SBC on Feb. 10, 2024. The opponent for the matchup will be determined by real-time NET rankings with an announcement to come in January.
The 2023-24 campaign will be the first under the direction of Head Coach Kristin Haynie, whose return to Mount Pleasant was announced in April. The former Chippewa assistant under former Head Coach Sue Guevara had spent the previous four seasons on the bench at her alma mater, Michigan State, under Head Coach Suzy Merchant.
The remainder of the 2023-24 Central Michigan Women's Basketball schedule will be announced at a later date.
