Freshman Rachel Niskanen Leads Women's Golf in Final Round at Penn State

UNIVERSITY PARK, Pa. – Freshman Rachel Niskanen shot a 2-over par 74 on Sunday to lead the Central Michigan women's golf team during the third and final round of the Nittany Lion Invitational on the Penn State Blue Course.
Niskanen, playing in just her second collegiate tournament, finished with a 226 total and in a tie for 18th place in the 57-player field.
Niskanen opened on Saturday morning with a 3-over 75 and then shot 77 in the second round on Saturday afternoon. She went into Sunday's final round tied for 29th and moved 11 spots up the leaderboard.
Also for the Chippewas on Sunday, Ashley Goh shot 78, Rachel Kauflin carded a 79, Lexi Schulman posted an 81, and Mackenzie Baustad shot 83.
Goh shot 77-75 on Saturday and finished at 230, tied for 34th.
Kauflin, who shot 79-82 on Saturday, finished tied for 48th at 240. Schulman, a freshman, shot 90-77 on Saturday and finished at 248. Baustad shot 88-81 on Saturday and finished at 252.
The Chippewas posted a 312 team score on Sunday and finished in 10th place in the 10-team event with a 941 total. They posted a 319 in Saturday's first round and then shot 310 in the second round.
Boston College shot a 299 team total on Sunday for a wire-to-wire victory. The Golden Eagles finished at 13-over 877, five shots ahead of runner-up James Madison.
Madison Smithco of Youngstown State shot an even-par 72 on Sunday to capture medalist honors with a 6-under 210 total. Hannah Lydic of Richmond was second, four shots back.
