Chippewa Pole Vaulters Shine at SVSU: Day 1 of Jet's Pizza Invite, Michigan Invitational

All three freshman pole vaulters competing logged personal records on Friday at SVSU's Jet's Pizza Invitational.
University Center, Mich. — Central Michigan pole vaulters Emily Yoshino, Lynette Cipolla and Riley Neilsen all attained career-best marks at the Jet's Pizza Invitational on Friday to highlight the first day of CMU's weekend trips to Michigan and Saginaw Valley State.
At SVSU, Yoshino vaulted a personal-best 3.61m to tie for 2nd in the event. Cipolla and Neilsen both reached 3.16m to tie for 6th.
Also for the Chippewas at the Jet's Pizza Invitational, Kaitlynn Rush and Sky Austin ran the 60m in 8.09 and 8.20, respectively, and Claire Kavanagh tossed 12.48 to place 15 of 28 in the weight throw.
In the first of two days in Ann Arbor, Sarah Daniel placed 7th in the long jump with a mark of 5.47m. Peyton Korytkowski completed the 60m hurdle preliminaries in 8.82s, which earned her 7th place and a spot in Saturday's final.
CMU will return to University Center and Ann Arbor on Saturday, where the remaining track and field events for the weekend will take place within each meet.
