Ryon, Lane and Emrick tally goals for CMU
MOUNT PLEASANT, Mich. — Central Michigan Field Hockey fell on Friday, 4-3, to Mid-American Conference opponent Bellarmine at Cristy Freese Field.
It was the third time the Chippewas had scored more than two goals this season, with goals from Carolena Ryon, Amelia Lane and Zoey Emrick.
The Chippewas outshot the Knights, 16-8. CMU made 12 on-target shots and held Bellarmine to just five.
Ryon, a freshman, scored the first of her collegiate career in the first quarter, assisted by Mallory Camryn.
Lane tabbed her first of the year early in the second quarter, the seventh of her career. The junior led the Chippewas with four shots, three of which were on goal.
Emrick found the back of the cage for the fourth time this season late in the fourth quarter.
In goal for CMU were Coletta Beeler, who went the first half in the cage, and Jenna Billig. Billig tallied 24 minutes and 35 seconds in goal and was subbed out for an extra attacker in the final few minutes.
CMU is now 0-4 in Mid-American Conference play and 3-9 on the year.
The Chippewas will host Ball State on Friday, Oct. 11 at 3 p.m. at Cristy Freese Field, one of CMU's three remaining homestands.
