Klára Mikulášková tabs first goal of season for CMU
Mount Pleasant, Mich. — Central Michigan Field Hockey fell on Friday, 3-1, to Mid-American Conference opponent Ball State at Cristy Freese Field.
Defender Klára Mikulášková tabbed a goal for the Chippewas in an explosive third quarter, her first of the year and the second of her career. She opened the scoring for both teams early in the third quarter on a penalty corner, assisted by Zoey Emrick.
The Chippewas and the Cardinals tied in shots with 15 each, but Ball State maintained seven shots on goal to CMU's six.
CMU drew eight penalty corners to the Cardinals' five.
Junior Mallory Camryn led CMU in shots with seven. Emrick had three, Mikulášková two.
In goal for CMU was Jenna Billig, who went 57:27 in the cage. The freshman tabbed four saves and allowed two goals. Ball State's final goal came in the final moments on a penalty corner with an empty net.
CMU is now 0-5 in Mid-American Conference play and 3-9 on the year.
The Chippewas will host a non-league game with Michigan State on Sunday, Oct. 13 at 1 p.m. at Cristy Freese Field. CMU will celebrate its seven seniors after the game.
