Caves Earns MAC West Wrestler of the Week Award

MOUNT PLEASANT, Mich. β Central Michigan's Bryan Caves was named the Mid-American Conference West Division Wrestler of the Week for his performance in the Chippewas' 17-16 nonconference loss to Indiana on Friday.

Caves, a redshirt junior from Port Byron, Ill., posted a 7-2 victory over Indiana's Jacob Bullock in the 285-pound match to give CMU three team points which forged a 16-16 tie to close the dual.

Indiana was awarded the dual meet based on the third tie-breaker criteria, total points scored.

Caves posted his first career victory over Bullock, a graduate student and 2024 NCAA Championships qualifier who entered the meet ranked 21st nationally by FloWrestling and 22nd by InterMat. Caves lost his first three career matches with Bullock by a combined 29-9 score.
