Volleyball Heads to MAC Tournament as No. 2 Seed

Central Michigan Volleyball prepares to head to Bowling Green as the No. 2 seed in the 2024 Mid-American Conference Tournament
MOUNT PLEASANT, Mich. – Central Michigan enters the 2024 Mid-American Conference Tournament as the No. 2 seed after finishing MAC play with a 15-3 record and 20-6 overall. The team recorded their winningest season since 1983 when they went 30-6 (.833) the 15-3 MAC record (.833) is also the highest winning percentage in conference play since 1983, the first year CMU was in the MAC.
Mike Gawlik ends the regular season with the most overall and conference wins in his head coaching career after taking control of the program in 2016. In 2019, Gawlik was named MAC Coach of the Year. His record ending the regular season is 137-122 (.528)
Seven Chippewas earned postseason accolades from the conference - the most in a single season in program history. Allie Korba was named MAC Setter of the Year and is the first Chippewa to claim that honor in the 50 years of the program. Natalia Rejment and Korba were also First Team All-MAC members. Rejment charted 12 double-doubles for the Chippewas in the 2024 season.
Abby Olin and Grace Thomas earned Second Team All-MAC spots. Olin leads the team with a .363 hitting percentage and has broken the single season solo block record with 34 so far in the season. Thomas was also named a member of the All-Freshman Team with libero, Hannah Langton
Central Michigan was the last team to beat the regular season champion in Bowling Green (10/11/24, 3-2 in Bowling Green). Since the two teams met in the Stroh Center, where the tournament will be played, Bowling Green is on an 11-game winning streak, while CMU has won 11 of their last 12 games. CMU enters the tournament on a five-game winning streak.
The only teams Central Michigan fell to in the regular season were Ball State (2-3), Toledo (3-1) and Ohio (2-3). Toledo and Ball State are potential opponents in the tournament. CMU earned the split with Ball State at home.
At the conclusion of the regular season, CMU leads the conference in opponent aces, only being aced 1.13 times/set while acing their opponents 1.53 times/set.
