The Distance Medley Relay Team of Paupore, Turner, Korytkowski and Newcombe break DMR Record; BIgham 5th All-Time in 800m
BOSTON — Two program records in two days for Central Michigan.
It was a team effort on Saturday at the Boston University David Hemery Valentine Invitational, where the distance medley relay team of Emily Paupore, Anya Turner, Peyton Korytkowski and Natalie Newcombe completed the event in 11:34.49, shattering the previous top mark of 11:41.48 set in 2016.
Despite being the only event on the Saturday docket for CMU in Boston, the outcome was well worth it; the relay squad placed 10th of 41, among teams from Miami (Fla.), Pitt, Army West Point and Georgia Tech.
The rest of Chippewa track and field held down the fort at the GVSU Big Meet – Saturday, the invitational counterpart to the two-meet series in Allendale.
Ericka Bigham etched her name into the 5th space of the CMU All-Time Indoor Top 10 list in the 800m, finishing 2:12.17 for 3rd place out of 70 runners.
