Baseball Drops Series Opener at Dallas Baptist

DALLAS -- Central Michigan Baseball began its weekend series in Dallas with an 8-0 nonconference loss to Dallas Baptist at Horner Ballpark on Friday.

The Chippewas (3-4) are set to face off against the Patriots (5-0) twice more this weekend, Saturday at 3 p.m. ET and Sunday at 1 p.m. ET.

CMU collected four hits, including a pair of doubles, against Dallas Baptist starting pitcher Ryan Johnson (1-0).

Chippewas leadoff hitter Bryson Webb opened the game with one of CMU's extra-base hits, legging out a double.

Junior left-hander Adam Mrakitsch (1-1) drew the start for the Chippewas and gave up four runs on eight hits across five innings, while registering seven strikeouts on 99 pitches.

Junior reliever Quin Konuszewski entered the game in relief of Mrakitsch in the sixth inning. He went 1 1/3 innings and gave up a run on two hits. Sophomore Jack Bach, graduate student Bryce Hellgeth, and redshirt freshman Trevor Busyn each also saw work out of the bullpen.

After surrendering a run in the opening frame, Mrakitsch blanked the Patriots until the fifth. From the fifth inning through the eighth, they scored seven runs on six hits.

In the top of the eighth inning, sophomore Cole Prout delivered a pinch-hit double for CMU. Marquis Jackson and Jack Eichler also had hits for the Chippewas.
