It was CMU's second straight loss to the Pilgrims, who are ranked 24th or 25th in three of the five nationally recognized polls. The teams close their three-game series on Sunday (1 p.m. ET).
DBU (6-0) used a seven-run third inning and a five-run fourth in building a 12-2 lead.
The Chippewas (3-5) matched their season high with 11 hits, four of which came from Jacob Donahue.
Freshman Mikey Murphy tripled and homered for the Chippewas. His homer, a sixth-inning solo shot, came in his first career at-bat.
Chippewa redshirt freshman Carter Campau also collected his first career hit, a ninth-inning leadoff double.
CMU starter Trey Miller (0-1) went 2 2/3 innings in taking the loss. He allowed seven runs on six hits. Ben Vitas and Jonah Milchuck pitched in relief.
