CMU wraps up regular season slate at Indiana on May 3
LOUISVILLE, Ky. — As the 2024 Outdoor Track and Field season starts to wrap up, the pieces are falling right into place for Central Michigan.
Following standout performances for Chippewa Track and Field at the Clark Wood Invitational on Friday, CMU kept the momentum going in its Saturday performances.
Kaitlynn Rush etched her name into the Chippewa Record Book in the 100m finals, coming in at 11.76 seconds, good for 5th place, to take the 8th place spot in the books. She had also attained the feat in the preliminaries earlier in the day, running 11.78, 0.02 seconds ahead the previous 8th place spot.
With just one more regular season meet ahead of CMU before the Outdoor MAC Championships, Director of Cross Country/Track and Field Jenny Swieton is thrilled at her team's weekend performances.
"A great weekend for the group," said Swieton. "Incredible performances highlighted by Kaitlynn, Payton (Korytkowski) and Sarah Daniel; everything is coming together right in time."
Also competing in the 100m for CMU on Saturday was freshman Sky Austin, who finished in 12.97 seconds.
Nicole Olivieri was 22nd in the 400m with a time of 59.14.
In the field events, five Chippewa student-athletes competed on Saturday.
