Chippewa Track and Field Wraps up Weekend in Knoxville, Rochester

Peyton Korytkowski Runs 10th-Fastest 100h in CMU History
ROCHESTER, Mich./KNOXVILLE, Tenn. — Central Michigan Track and Field wrapped up its busy weekend on Saturday with the final day of the Tennessee Invitational and the one-day Golden Grizzlies Invitational at Oakland University.
Peyton Korytkowski shined for CMU in Knoxville, finishing the 100m hurdles in 14.15 seconds, which allowed her into the CMU record book for 10th fastest 100h time.
Also for CMU in Tennessee on Saturday were Chesney Wilke, Libby Munderloh and Maija Rettelle, finishing the 800m in 15th, 32nd and 33rd, respectively.
Annie Bennett was 16th in the 5000m and Kaitlynn Rush finished 24th in the 100m. Payton Sabourin and Emma Francis competed in the 400m, finishing 11th and 33rd, respectively.
In the shot put, Emily McLean was 8th and freshman Victoria Merrick finished 13th, marking a new personal best throw of 12.66m.
Capping the weekend in Knoxville was the 4x100 relay team of Rush, Sabourin, Korytkowski and Sarah Daniel, who finished in 47.27 for 9th place.
In Rochester, 14 Chippewa track and field student-athletes competed.
CMU freshmen Emma Janesak and Emma Netzel competed in their first collegiate 3000m steeplechase, finishing 4th and 8th, respectively. Janesak finished in 11:30.98, Netzel in 11:46.33.
Ambria Nagel and Lauren Hasty ran the 1500m. Nagel finished 14th, Hasty 26th.
Jessie Gibbins, Jaci Rife, Jolie Fisher and Amelia Gouin competed in the 800m for CMU. Gibbins finished 10th, Rife 22nd, Fisher 25th and Gouin 36th.
All three competing CMU runners finished in the top five in the 400m, with Ericka Bigham (3rd) leading the charge in 57.97. Nicole Olivieri was 4th, Emma Fountain 5th.
Fountain, alongside Sky Austin, also ran the 200m. Fountain finished 16th. Austin, a freshman, was 20th, having also competed in the 100m preliminaries.
Claire Kavanagh and Ereka Risner competed in the hammer throw to cap things off in the field section for CMU. Kavanagh was 13th with a mark of 37.73. Risner finished 18th.
CMU is scheduled to host the Chippewa Challenge on Friday, April 12, CMU's first outdoor meet in over ten years. It is set to take place at the newly renovated Lyle Bennett Outdoor Track in Mount Pleasant.
