Chippewa Track and Field Wraps Up Regular Season at Billy Hayes Invitational

Personal Bests from Risner, Gibbins and Hasty, 2nd-place 800m finish for Turner
BLOOMINGTON, Ind. — One last tune-up before Central Michigan Track & Field heads to the Mid-American Conference Outdoor Championships.
The Chippewas took to the Billy Hayes Invitational on Friday, a single day meet hosted by Indiana, to wrap up the regular outdoor track and field season.
CMU competed in the 400m, the 400 meter hurdles, the 800m, the 1500m, the 3000m, shot put and discus.
Personal bests from Lauren Hasty, Jessie Gibbins and Ereka Risner highlighted the Chippewas' outing.
Redshirt senior Anya Turner placed 2nd in the 800m with a time of 2.10.85, followed by Gibbins in 13th, Maija Rettelle in 20th and Jaci Rife in 25th.
Hasty finished 16th in the 1500m, marking a new personal-best time of 4.56.87.
In the field events were Risner, who achieved a mark of 13.17m in the shot put, and Claire Kavanagh, who competed in the discus throw.
Also for the Chippewas were Emma Fountain, who finished 10th in the 400m, freshman Ava Pergitone, who was 16th in the 3000m, and Libby Munderloh in the 400m hurdles, finishing 16th.
The three-day MAC Championships awaits for CMU, hosted from Thursday, May 9 to Saturday, May 11 at Northern Illinois.
