Series finale Sunday (noon)
MOUNT PLEASANT, Mich. – Akron used a pair of four-run innings early on Saturday in handing Central Michigan a 9-1 loss in a Mid-American Conference baseball game on Keilitz Field at Theunissen Stadium.
It was the Zips' second straight win over the Chippewas. The teams close the three-game series on Sunday (noon).

In the fourth, CMU reliever Jonah Milchuck walked three straight after allowing a leadoff single, and then surrendered a one-out, two-run double as Akron built an 8-0 lead.
CMU's run came on a home Nick Dardas' seventh-inning homer, his fourth of the season. It was the Chippewas' lone extra-base hit of the game.
Waters took the loss. Jack Bell, Sean Knorr and Trevor Busyn also pitched in relief for CMU.
Jacob Donahue, Danny Wuestenfeld and Elijah Henning had two hits apiece for the Chippewas.
Jared Schaeffer (3-6) struck out five in going eight innings for the win.
