Soccer Completes 2024 Staff with Hire of Spencer Sandow

With coaching experience from several levels and areas of the game, Sandow will join the Chippewas just in time for the 2024 preseason
MOUNT PLEASANT, Mich. — Central Michigan Soccer announced the addition of Spencer Sandow as the program's second assistant coach Friday. His key roles will be with the forward group and as the team's point of contact for academic standards.
"Throughout the hiring process, Spencer stood out as someone who would fit our staff and our team," Head Coach Jeremy Groves said. "He has displayed, at many levels, to have knowledge and passion, and has had success with all teams he has coached."
Sandow is welcomed to Mount Pleasant after a three-year run with the men's program at NCAA II Northwood. His collegiate coaching career also includes stops at his alma mater, NCAA III Alma College (men's), NAIA Spring Arbor (men's) and NCAA III Lakeland (women's).
The Midland, Mich.-native was named to the 2022-23 30 Under 30 list by the United Soccer Coaches following a turnaround season with the Timberwolves in 2022 as the program went from a 3-10-1 league record in 2021 to a 7-6-1 mark in Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference play.
Sandow has worked with Michigan Youth Soccer in the Olympic Development Program, the Midland Soccer Club as a staff coach and college coordinator and was the head coach of the girls' varsity team at Midland Dow High School where he led the Chargers to a pair of district titles and was named the Saginaw Valley League Coach of the Year three times.
The 2024 season opens with exhibition play Aug. 8, hosting Detroit Mercy. The Chippewas will honor a 15-player senior class ahead of the contest. The 2024 regular season opens at Kentucky (Aug. 15), home-opener against Cincinnati (Aug. 25).
