The Labor Day Weekend trip to Texas opened Thursday in Fort Worth, CMU to visit No. 14 Texas Sunday
FORT WORTH, Texas — Senior goalkeeper Allison LaPoint (Royal Oak, Mich. / Shrine Catholic) became the sixth in Central Michigan Soccer history to clear 200 career saves Thursday night in a 3-0 loss at TCU.
Â
LaPoint's 200th stop came in the 20th minute of action as she entered the night at 199. She ended the evening with seven saves to put her at 206 through 45 career appearances, passing Kari Alexander '03 for fifth all-time at CMU. (Updated Sept. 1)
Â
Just four days after punching in a goal against Cincinnati in the first 48 seconds, the Chippewas were found on the opposite end of that situation as the Horned Frogs—who received votes in the latest United Soccer Coaches national poll—found the back of the net just before the end of the first minute. As was the case in the season-opener at Kentucky (Aug. 15), senior forward Jenna Little (Portage, Mich. / Portage Central) entered her on-target shot for the night just a minute later.
Â
Central Michigan Soccer shifts down to the state's capital for the remainder of the weekend in preparation for a 1 p.m. CT kickoff with No. 14 Texas at Myers Stadium in downtown Austin. The Chippewas return to the CMU Soccer Complex next Thursday (Sept. 5) for the first of back-to-back home matchups with South Dakota (Sept. 5, 1 p.m. ET) and Wis.-Green Bay (Sept. 8, 1 p.m. ET).
