Field Hockey Drops League Game against App State, 2-1

CHARLOTTE, N.C. — Central Michigan Field Hockey fell, 2-1, to second-ranked Mid-American Conference foe Appalachian State on Sunday in a neutral site game at UNCC Field.
Pauline Klep scored her second goal of the season in the second quarter to tie the game, 1-1. The goal came from a penalty corner, assisted by Amelia Lane.
The Mountaineers scored in the first quarter, off a penalty stroke, and again in the third.
Chippewa keeper Coletta Beeler went the distance in the net, amassing 18 saves in the low-scoring game, a career highlight for the senior. The McVeytown, Pa. native's career-high is 22 saves.
Klep, Lane and Carolena Ryon all took on-target shots for CMU.
CMU (3-7, 0-3 MAC) is slated to return to Mount Pleasant to kick off a three-game home slate, starting with Bellarmine on Friday, Oct 4. (1 p.m.).
The Chippewas defeated the Knights earlier this year in a nonleague game, 2-1, in OT.
