CMU redshirt junior won by major decision, tech fall in Chippewas' two dual meet victories last weekend
MOUNT PLEASANT, Mich. -- Central Michigan's Mason Shrader was named the Mid-American Conference West Division Wrestler of the Week today for his performance in the Chippewas' two dual meet victories over the weekend.

Shrader, a redshirt junior wrestling at 149 pounds, scored bonus points in winning two matches in helping the Chippewas win their MAC-opening duals, 29-11 over Northern Illinois and 29-10 over Cleveland State.

Shrader posted a 17-8 major decision victory over NIU's Collin Arch and a 19-4 technical fall over Cleveland State's Connor Saylor.

Shrader, who is ranked fourth in the MAC and 25th nationally by InterMat and 30th by FloWrestling, is 15-6 on the season, scoring bonus points in five of his wins.

Shrader, who hails from South Lyon, is the fifth Chippewa to earn the MAC West Wrestler of the Week Award this season after Alex Cramer, Bryan Caves, Chandler Amaker and Johnny Lovett.

The Chippewas go to American in Washington, D.C. on Sunday, Jan. 26 for the fourth annual Chippewa Challenge.
