Nine Podium Finishes for Chippewas at Bob Parks Memorial

Paupore, Rush, K. Jenkins tab event wins in Ypsilanti
YPSILANTI, Mich. — Central Michigan Track & Field got a glimpse of Mid-American Conference competition on Saturday at Eastern Michigan's Bob Parks Memorial, competing alongside the Eagles, Toledo, Bowling Green and Akron.
Kaitlynn Rush, Emily Paupore and Kate Jenkins each brought home event wins, highlighting a total of nine podium finishes for the Chippewas – seven for the women, two for Men's Cross Country.
Rush sprinted her way to the 60 meter finals alongside Sky Austin and Mireya Benjamin, where they finished first, fourth and sixth, respectively.
The trio additionally competed in the 200-meter dash, alongside Sophia Garland, Dior Newson, Robyn Watts and Jada Pride. Rush led the Chippewas with a seventh-place finish.
Watts, Garland and Danica Shamion took fourth, sixth and ninth in the 400m, respectively.
In the 800m for CMU were Chesney Wilke, Libby Munderloh and freshman Lexi Hurst. Wilke, a sophomore, finished 4th, Munderloh finished 12th and Hurst was 18th.
Paupore won the women's mile, running alongside freshman Olivia East (14th) and sophomore Ambria Nagel (23rd.)
Kate Jenkins finished the women's 3000m in 10:06.44 to win the race, followed shortly behind by Emma Janesak (2nd), Ava Teed (5th) and Joanna Kelley (6th). The rest of the Chippewas kept it close; Nikki Carothers placed 7th, Miranda McNeil 10th, Emma Netzel 12th, Logan Brazee 13th, Braydee Elling 16th and Elle Himebaugh 17th.
Freshmen Ciara Rosenzweig and Jada Pride took on the 60 hurdles, both qualifying for the final. Rosenzweig finished 6th, Pride 7th.
The 4x400 relay team of Munderloh, East, Grace Jenkins and Chesney Wilke were good for 3rd place, finishing with a time of 4:02.68.
Emily Yoshino brought home a podium finish from Ypsilanti for the CMU jumpers, finishing 3rd in the pole vault. Riley Nielsen finished 7th.
Riley Kerr was good for 7th in high jump with a height of 1.55m, while Hailey Hill leapt 5.00m to finish 14th in long jump.
Emily McLean repped the CMU throwers on the podium with a 14.01 shot put, good for 2nd overall. Freshman Amyah Chosa finished 8th, followed by Gracie Merrick (11th) and Ereka Risner (14th).
Merrick, Risner and Chosa additionally competed in weight throw; Merrick finished 16th, Risner 18th and Chosa 20th.
CMU Men's Cross Country had the opportunity to shine in Ypsilanti, competing in the men's mile and 3000m in the maroon and gold.
The CMU men claimed eight finishes in the top-10 of a 15-runner 3000m race, with Ethan Leitner and Carson White finishing 2nd and 3rd, respectively. Joey Taverna ran the men's mile, finishing 10th.
As the Chippewas enter the thick of the indoor season, CMU is slated to tackle its first two-day meet of the year, Notre Dame's Meyo Invitational, on Jan 31 and Feb. 1 in South Bend, Ind.
