RICHMOND, Va. – Central Michigan Field Hockey fell to Virginia Commonwealth 6-1 Sunday afternoon. The Chippewas move to 8-8 overall while VCU improves to 13-3.
Freshman Lola Pardo found the back of the cage for the first time in her collegiate career on a penalty corner attempt in the final minute of the first half. The attempt was CMU's fourth in the final two minutes and was set up by Amelia Lane, her fourth assist of the season, and Teah Savignano, her third assist.
Graduate Keeper Ashley Cogger tied her season high for saves in a single game, stopping 15 of 21 shots sent her way. Sunday's match puts her at 68 saves over the past five games and her fifth consecutive game with 10 or more saves. She now stands at 132 saves on the season, second most in the Mid-American Conference.
Shannon Dwyer aided the defensive effort adding defensive save in the third quarter, her second of 2025.
The Rams opened scoring quickly, logging their first goal at the five-minute mark of the first quarter. They would add another more in the opening quarter, and one in the second for a 3-1 lead at the half. The Rams would then find the back of the cage three times in the second half.
Central Michigan was out shot 30-7, and trailed by three corner attempts 10-7.
