Camryn logs her 50th career goal, Rulli and Pluciennik each find the back of the cage in Chippewas’ fourth Conference win of 2025
LOUISVILLE, Ky. – Central Michigan Field Hockey earned an appearance in the Mid-American Conference Championship Tournament with Friday's 3-2 win at Bellarmine.
The Chippewas finished conference play at 4-5 with back-to-back victories in league play to qualify for the MAC tournament for the first time since 2019.
Senior Mallory Camryn opened the scoring quickly, just under four minutes into the game, beating the keeper after being fed by freshman Mora Rulli. The goal was Camryn's 50th career goal and 17th of 2025, tied third most all-time in a single season; Rulli logged her team-leading eighth assist of the season.
"Mallory getting her 50th career goal was awesome," Head Coach Jennifer Johnstone said. "To do it in a game that secured our tournament berth makes it even more special. It speaks to the impact she's had on our program over the past two seasons."
Rulli found herself in the scorebook again in the second quarter, finding a lost ball and burying it past the Knight's keeper, for a 2-0 lead. The goal was her third of the season, she stands at 16 points.
The Knights cut the lead in half with a goal midway through the third quarter with their first shot on cage.
Scoring stayed quiet until the 50th minute, when junior Cameron Pluciennik found the back of the cage for the first game-winning goal of her career. Pluciennik drove low, faked the Knights' keeper and buried the backhand.
"Mora gave us a huge push on the attack today with her goal and assist. Cameron really stepped up today when we needed it the most. They both brought what we needed all game."
"Our middies were the real workhorses for us today. They did an incredible job pushing the ball forward and connecting with our forwards in the circle. It's a reflection of the work they put in over the summer and the commitment they've shown to our team goals since preseason. Our upperclassmen have done such a great job mentoring the younger players – it's a special group."
Starting keeper Ashley Cogger faced five total shots, logged three saves.
Central Michigan Field Hockey will close out its regular season Sunday at Michigan State (Nov. 2, 1 p.m.) the 69th meeting of the programs.
