Chippewa Field Hockey Falls 4-1 in MAC Quarterfinals to No. 4 ranked James Madison

Cogger ties her career-best 15 saves, Bainer records the lone Chippewa Goal
HARRISONBURG, Va. – Central Michigan Field Hockey team fell to James Madison 4-1 on Tuesday afternoon in the Mid-American Conference Tournament quarterfinals.
Keeper Ashley Cogger recorded 15 saves, tying her season high from the Virginia Commonwealth, and Miami (OH) matches. She allowed three goals, the fourth came after she was pulled for an extra attacker in the final quarter.
Cogger wraps up the season with 10 wins, the most by any Chippewa keeper since at least 2006, 154 saves, and a .786 save percentage.
Central Michigan scored its lone goal in the final seconds of the first half, when Hailey Bainer deflected a pass into the goal from Mallory Camryn. The goal was Bainer's fourth of the season, and Camryn's seventh assist.
The quarterfinal match marked Central Michigan's first tournament appearance since 2019.
As a team, Central Michigan finished with 10 wins, the most since 2006, and four conference wins, the most since 2014.
CMU combined for 47 goals in 2025, averaging, 2.47 goals per game.
Camryn ends her career in Maroon and Gold with 28 goals and 10 assists for 66 points. In 2025, she recorded 18 goals, the most by a Chippewa since 1985.
